MHKs call for delay to budget debate 

Members voted to proceed with the budget

Alex Allinson has outlined his budget for the next financial year describing it as one that 'seeks to deliver'.

But before he could deliver it, some MHKs expressed their concerns about a budget they say they haven't had enough time to analyse.  

Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper called for it to be delayed until the next Tynwald sitting. 

He added if the document is published it would give politicians on the Island the chance to go out and speak to their constitutions as well as the business community before voting.

Mr Hooper says he'd rather be more informed: 

Onchan MHK Julie Edge expressed her concerns about health services on the Island adding they haven't seen the Manx Care mandate for next year or the operational plan:

Meanwhile Douglas MHK Chris Thomas said nothing would be lost by 1 April if the budget debate is held in March:

But Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said members had already got the treasury minister to agree to the triple lock plans and accused them of destabilising and being irresponsible to prevent the budget from going ahead:
