MHK wants to 'give air' to people who feel 'hard done by' because of gov't actions

Wannenburgh taking parking petition to Tynwald this month

A Douglas North MHK who is attempting to resolve parking issues in the capital says it’s important to ‘give air’ to people who feel ‘hard done by’ because of the actions of government.

John Wannenburgh will take Douglas resident Andrea Kruger’s petition – which calls for restrictions on roadside parking in disc zone H – to Tynwald next week.

She's calling for policies or laws to be put in place which ensure that occupants and users of any new property developments located in the already densely populated disc zone are excluded from receiving resident parking permits.

She also wants the zone to be converted into a residents' only parking.

It follows concerns that existing residents will be negatively impacted by development in the area which includes the former nurses’ home on Westmoreland Road.

You can find out more here.

Mr Wannenburgh says they do need to be protected:

Tynwald will begin its January sitting on 21 January.
