
It's been claimed a new motor engineering workshop for the Isle of Man College could be built at a fifth of the price requested, if the students do much of the work themselves.
North Douglas MHK John Houghton this week asked Tynwald to throw out a demand by the Department of Education for three million pounds and look into his solution instead.
His amendment was heavily defeated and the motion was accepted.
Mr Houghton says using the apprentices to do much of the work on the site in Greenfield Road makes sense:
