Minister pleased agreement allows for 'tangible benefits'
The infrastructure minister's pleased with the progress being made on the Sea Services Agreement.
Tynwald members yesterday approved his motion, which asked them to approve the Heads of Terms, and instruct the Department of Infrastructure to finalise the full agreement with the Steam Packet by the end of May.
It will come into effect at the start of next year.
Ray Harmer said the agreement will mean they can move forward with plans for boats and a freeze on fares for foot passengers.
Douglas East MHK Chris Robertshaw is concerned with what he sees as a lack of oversight, though.
He posed an amendment, which was defeated, which would have forced the department to bring the final, finished document before Tynwald for approval.
