From April businesses will be able to apply for a slice of £2.4 million
Businesses, local authorities and town groups will be able to apply for a slice of £2.4 million as part of efforts to enhance towns and villages on the Isle of Man.
Work is beginning to implement the Local Economy Strategy following Tynwald’s consideration of new support schemes to revitalise the Island’s high streets.

A Local Economy Fund will also provide financial assistance for those looking to trial new initiatives or activities that aim to improve areas or generate increased footfall.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston told Tynwald this week the strategy has been developed to take into account the views of businesses and local communities:
However Rushen MHK Juan Watterson – who has previously worked on committees looking into regeneration schemes – says he believes the department should have considered work that has gone before.

The Town and Village Regeneration Scheme will launch on 1 April.
Businesses will be able to apply for financial assistance towards improvements to the external appearance and accessibility of buildings, fitting out vacant units and converting vacant units above shops for residential purposes.
Business Isle of Man will be holding ‘Island-wide roadshows’ to discuss the support available later this year.
