MHK calls for change to ensure whistleblowers 'aren't ignored'

Onchan MHK Julie Edge is urging Tynwald to overturn a decision made by the Department for Enterprise, which ruled not to define politicians as 'prescribed persons' in whistleblowing cases.

She has previously criticised the move, especially since the majority of respondents in a public consultation supported the idea of making MHKs and MLCs appropriate figures for disclosures.

The Department for Enterprise argues that involving politicians could lead to issues with confidentiality, politicisation, and that politicians might lack the necessary authority in such situations.
