Temporary appointment of Cannan as DHSC welcomed
The Isle of Man Medical Society says it's looking forward to a ‘new era’ of ‘open, honest and transparent engagement’ with government.
It follows the resignation of the Health and Social Care Minister Lawrie Hooper yesterday (15 October).
Announcing he was stepping down during Tynwald the Ramsey MHK said he was 'convinced' that the chief minister's aim was to 'try and privatise our health service'.

In response Alfred Cannan accused him of 'fabricating' the issue and described his resignation speech as a 'stitch up'.
Mr Cannan has taken on the role of health and social care minister temporarily until a replacement is appointed.
It adds: "We have met with Chief Minister Cannan around the time of the assisted dying debate and when we released our reform plans for Manx Care.
"We found him to be warm, welcoming, and willing to work in partnership with doctors during our interactions.
"We look forward to a new era of open, honest, and transparent engagement with the government where different points of view are welcomed in the positive journey towards the provision of high-quality, safe, and affordable health and care to the people of the Isle of Man.
"We recognise the dedication and leadership that Mr Cannan brings to this role particularly in addressing the financial discipline and growing demands for health and social care services.
"His commitment to providing stability and working collaboratively with the Department of Health and Social Care, the Treasury, and Manx Care is commendable.
"We look forward to supporting Mr Cannan in his efforts to enhance the quality and sustainability of healthcare services on the Isle of Man.
