Manx Radio understands that the Isle of Man Government was offered the opportunity to purchase the telecoms provider but declined.
Manx Radio has approached the government, Jersey Telecom, and Manx Telecom for comment.
JT Group declined to comment but confirmed 'background discussions' are ongoing.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Government says: 'It would be inappropriate to provide a specific comment on any individual business which may, or may not, be going through a commercial transaction until such time as any such transaction is confirmed publicly.'
