Manx Legion Club continuing to tackle loneliness with 'warm hub' for elderly

Older members of the community tell Manx Radio it's much needed

The stewardess of a club in Douglas, that acts as a community hub, says it's important that elderly residents have a safe space to socialise and keep warm.

The Manx Legion often plays host to a number of projects involving senior residents and even provides warm lunches once a month alongside Age Concern Isle of Man.

Linda Coe told Manx Radio she believes more could be done to help support those in need:

Manx Radio's Chanelle Sukhoo went along to the monthly 'Winter Warmer' lunch event which was held yesterday (26 September) to speak to some of those who attended.

And while attendees said it provides a warm meal, others spoke about how the initiative has helped them, and others, tackle loneliness and importantly get them out of the house:

The next lunch event will take place on 31 October.
