Manannan sailings cancelled due to 'significant wave heights'

Today's Liverpool crossings are off

Today’s Manannan sailings have been cancelled due to strong winds.

The Steam Packet Company says they are causing ‘significant wave heights’ which are in excess of safe limits.

It's cancelled the 3pm crossing to Liverpool and its return journey (21 August).

Overnight the Manxman sustained damage whilst docking at Heysham Port during its evening sailing from Douglas to Heysham in ‘unseasonably challenging weather conditions’.

No crew or passengers were injured.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch, and other relevant authorities, have been informed of the incident.

To minimise disruption the Ben-my-Chree was used to accommodate as many passengers as possible and completed the delayed 2.15am crossing from Heysham to the Island.

The Ben-my-Chree will maintain passenger and freight services while repairs are conducted on the Manxman.

Manannan will continue to operate its scheduled services as far as possible.

However the Steam Packet says due to the yellow weather warning in place further sailings are subject to disruption including tonight’s delayed 8.15pm Douglas to Heysham sailing.

All passengers due to travel on affected sailings over the coming days will be informed of changes.
