19-year-old pleads guilty to possessing drug
Hiding herbal cannabis down his trousers has cost a Crosby man £350.
Nineteen-year-old Ryan Mark Sharvin of Old Church Road appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to possessing the class B drug.
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the hearing police on foot patrol noticed Sharvin's car on level four of the Chester Street Car Park in Douglas on 19 December.
They searched the car and arrested the teenager after smelling a strong smell of cannabis coming from inside.
When Sharvin was taken to police headquarters, he took a grinder containing just over six grammes of the drug from his pants and admitted it was for his own use.
His advocate said Sharvin was a young man who'd never been in trouble with the law before, but who'd cooperated with police and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
Mrs Hughes imposed a £350 fine to be paid at the rate of £120 per month, and also ordered the drugs be forfeited and destroyed.
