38-year-old will be sentenced at Court of General Gaol Delivery
A Douglas man will be sentenced later this month after trying to send cash off the Island stuffed in a teddy bear.
Christopher Paul Cowin, of Peel Road, pleaded guilty to attempting to remove criminal property during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
The 38-year-old had visited the FCX depot at Ronaldsway Airport on 11 June; he told the member of staff he needed to post a parcel which contained books and teddy bears.
However it was opened due to concerns about how much it weighed and £3,200 was found concealed in a stuffed animal.
A social enquiry report has been requested before Cowin is sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery; he’ll next appear there on 12 July.
Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 12 July Cowin was told he'll be sentenced on 6 September 2024.
