Ramsey resident remains concerned about 'clean-up' happening in country
A Ramsey resident says she’s looking forward to celebrating her dog’s first Christmas on the Isle of Man amidst concerns about what’s happening in the country she rescued her from.
Thousands of street dogs are reportedly being killed in Morocco – which is bidding to host the 2030 World Cup – in an attempt to ‘clean up’ the streets.
Campaigners, including British actor Peter Egan, believe millions could be at risk of slaughter.
Sue Fisher met four-month-old puppy Lucy whilst on holiday in Morocco in November last year; days later she found out the stray had broken her leg in three places and needed surgery.
Sue paid for the surgery and thereafter decided to adopt her.
Eight months - and £3,000 later - and Lucy the Moroccan Beldi - is now a northern resident too.
Sue told Manx Radio while she doesn't advocate for people adopting dogs from other countries, and believes people should instead look locally, she was instantly captivated by Lucy:
