Eight-week rolling dates helps manage demand and staffing levels, says department
The Department of Infrastructure says it is confident that current availability for motorcycle and car theory tests on the Isle of Man is meeting demand, after concerns were raised about limited booking options.
A review of the online system shows that only a handful of dates are currently available for motorcycle theory tests in May and June.
No dates are bookable for July or beyond - a restriction that also applies to car theory tests.
In response, the Department said its booking system operates on a rolling eight-week basis, with new appointments released weekly.
This approach, it says, helps manage staffing levels, including annual leave, and maintains flexibility without overcommitting to long-term scheduling.
While there are no immediate plans to increase the number of available test appointments, the Department says it continues to monitor demand and will adjust capacity if necessary.
It also confirmed it has not received complaints about access and believes candidates are generally able to book within a reasonable timeframe.
