Legislative Council discuss Assisted Dying

The initial moves for similar legislation are underway in the UK 

In their first gathering since July, Legislative Council members will today (22 October) discuss the principles of the Assisted Dying Bill.

It completed its passage through the House of Keys before the summer recess.

While LegCo meet in their chamber, downstairs Keys have a sixteen question paper which starts with the subject of the long awaited Ballasalla Bypass. It comes from Jason Moorhouse and is a starred priority question.  When will the southern end, the Balthane Roundabout section, be completed, he asks.

David Ashford, a former Health Minister, asks what plans are there for a health levy on those coming to the Island. He then moves onto minimum salary requirements for skilled worker visas.

Later he asks about the number of individuals working as GPs. And abandoned vehicles on private land.

Julie Edge asks about registered childcare places and about an agreement with Chester University. She also wants a statement on the carers strategy.

Chris Thomas asks about sites and buildings transferred from the Infrastructure Department since 2021.
