The result leaves the Ravens 17th in the table

A late equaliser helped FC Isle of Man secure a 2-2 draw against one of the top sides in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division.

The Ravens opened the scoring against Wythenshawe Town just before half time through Charlie Higgins, but Darius Palma levelled for the home side early in the second half.

It looked like Wythenshawe would take the win when Palma netted again with 10 minutes to go, but a 30-yard strike from Furo Davies ensured the Manx side picked up a point.

The result leaves FC Isle of Man 17th in the table ahead of a home match against Congleton Town on Saturday.

In a fast-paced first half, Wythenshawe Town began to take control of possession whilst creating a series of big chances.

However, thanks to a series of fine saves from the outstanding James Rice in the FC IoM goal the minutes trickled as the game remained goalless.

The Ravens then stunned the home side in the 44th minute to take the lead when a long throw from Lewis Roberts was controlled by Charlie Higgins who managed to smash a low shot into the bottom corner.

Taking a 1-0 lead into half-time, the Manx side had their work cut out at the start of the second period as Wythenshawe Town flew out the traps in search of an equaliser.

The hosts then got their reward in the 52nd minute when Darius Palma was played through on goal and held off his marker to rasp a strike into the roof of the FC IoM net.

In a second half controlled by the home side, Wythenshawe Town took the lead for the first time with ten minutes to go.

Palma got his second of the match, twisting away on the edge of the penalty area to strike low across Rice into the bottom corner.

But a moment of magic brought the Ravens back level in the 85th minute as substitute Furo Davies unleashed an effort from 30 yards which sailed past Wythenshawe Town 'keeper, Elliot Wynne, into the top corner, triggering wild celebrations from the travelling squad.

The draw means FC Isle of Man move up one place in the table to 17th, with 14 points in total.

The Ravens next match will be at home against Congleton Town this Saturday (29 October), kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary of that clash on our AM1368 and Digital platforms.
