JustGiving page set up in memory of Manx TikTok star

Darren Douglas died last week

A fundraising page has been set up online in memory of disabled Manx internet star Darren Douglas.

The 31-year-old who lived with arthrogryposis died last week after a short battle with illness.

The founder of the JustGiving page says they are hoping to raise £5000 to help with Darren's funeral arrangements, and 'help with the care of his beloved support dog Yvie who has now retired and is with a loving family.'

So far more than £4000 has been donated.

Some of the donors have left messages, describing Darren as 'a very special man' and a 'great character with a sense of humour & cheeky smile that won over everyone he met'.

Unable to use his arms or legs, Darren recorded videos of himself for the social media site TikTok - showing how he performed daily tasks using just his mouth.

Some of his clips were viewed by millions around the world.

Speaking to Manx Radio just two months ago, Darren said he hoped to use the platform to change how people with disabilities are seen by society:

Page founder, Gemma Johnson, says: 'he was such an inspirational man on the Island and worldwide and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.'

'The family would like to thank everyone for the messages and support at this sad time.'

You can find the JustGiving page here.
