MHK queries support for new Suranne Jones TV series
Part of a new ITV series – set to star award winning actress Suranne Jones – could be filmed on the Isle of Man but taxpayers' money won’t be used to fund it.
That's the admission from the Enterprise Minister Alex Allinson who has confirmed politicians have received emails lobbying on behalf of the production company.
In the House of Keys this week it was revealed that the three-part television drama was going to be set on the Island but filmed in the Isle of Wight and Ireland instead.
The subject was raised by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover who questioned how much funding the government department was providing for feature films and TV productions:
Dr Allinson also confirmed that during the last two years his department had not directly financially supported any individual productions.
