It's risen by 625 in four years
In less than a year, the Isle of Man Government's workforce increased by more than 250 full-time staff.
Figures provided by the Cabinet Office show between the end of February last year and the end of January this year, the number of public sector workers on full-time hours rose by 267.
It now stands at 7,533 which accounts for both civil service and public service.
Public servants are defined as those employed directly by government departments, boards and offices - like teachers, health workers and emergency service personnel amongst others.
Meanwhile, civil servants are those employed and working within the departments, boards and offices themselves.
MHKs and MLCs are not included in the data, neither are coroners and Manx Heritage Foundation, nor vacancies and casual or agency staff.
However, the figure is likely higher because some statutory boards like the Post Office and Manx Utilities hold their own figures and release these as part of their own accounts.
Manx Radio understands some of the increase is due to recruitment in the health service.
Government has been contacted for a breakdown of the figures.
