Ballafesson field earmarked for 30 pods
A glamping site planned for Port Erin will be the largest and 'most luxurious' on the Island, according to its operator.
Up to 30 pods with almost 170 bed spaces are included for a plot on the outskirts of the village, which will also acommodate camping and motorhomes.
Port Erin Commissioners, which is the landowner of the field on Ballafesson Road, has submitted the plans on behalf of the developers.
The 'start up' project, planned by local firm Reayrt Vradda, would need half a million pounds, should the application be approved.
Along with a welcome centre and washing facilities, there will be a 'green corridor' of woodland with a landscaped nature area.
Isle of Man-based Concept Pods will supply the site with cabins, which will be built over the course of two years.
The glamping developer, which is also behind similar facilities at Glen Helen, says it will attract 'a new wave of visitors to the Island and generate additional income for its towns, commerce and residents.'
The commissioners will discuss the plans during their public meeting on 16 June.
