Public Health regulations set to be suspended next month
The Isle of Man is set to take an 'endemic approach' to living with Covid-19.
Government has today set out its new 'strategic approach' – which is due to be implemented next month - saying people must learn to live in a world with the virus.
From 31 March says it will consider Coronavirus to be endemic on the Island whilst meeting any international obligations.
Core Public Health regulations will be suspended - instead people will be 'empowered' to make their own decisions based on their own circumstances.
The new plan is designed to return the Island to 'normal life' and ensure that government is prepared to intervene if necessary.
Restrictions around travel will be eased and changes will be made to the rules surrounding people who contract Coronavirus.
Government says the plan will come into force if the 'right conditions for change' are met.
These are:
- Health services operating normally
- Vaccines remaining available and effective
- No new variants of concern that may lead to serious consequences
- Situation being stable on Island
- Situation being stable in the British Isles
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said today it was time for government to step out of people's lives:
