Describes termination notice as 'abhorrent behaviour'
A Rushen MHK has joined several others in voicing concerns regarding the news Steam Packet officers were served with notice of termination on Friday evening (22 December), describing it as 'abhorrent behaviour'.
Towards the end of last week, the seafarers' union Nautilus claimed its members received the notice after refusing to sign new contracts of employment, which it's described as an active fire and rehire process.
Michelle Haywood says the company's board 'should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves', arguing that 'this is no way to handle workforce relationships'.
She added: 'Whoever signed off on sending that email three days before Christmas should hang their heads in shame'.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Co Board should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. This is no way to handle workforce relationships. Whoever signed off on sending that email on Friday @ 17.08 (3 days before Christmas) should hang their heads in shame. Abhorrent behaviour. https://t.co/CHFltyJ8x2
