Independent Living Centre moves to appointment-based format

A referral is required to book in with the service

The Independent Living Centre is to change to an appointment-based service from next month.

Until now, it has been a drop-in facility.

The service is based within the Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) in Douglas.

Manx Care says the move is to help the service to be more responsive and timelier for those who need it.

It says a scheduled appointment 'will also allow for dedicated time and confidentiality to discuss any concerns'.

The local therapy service is run by Manx Care professionals and helps people to find solutions to stay active, safe and independent.

The Independent Living Centre also provides people with the opportunity to see and try a range of products. These include bed, bathroom/toileting and mobility aids, and moving and handling equipment.

The products reflect those that may be provided by the therapy service upon a completed therapy assessment.

Appointments will be available between 9am and 2.30pm every Wednesday from 7 August, booked in 30-minute slots.

After 7 August 2024, there will be no option to ‘drop in’, and an appointment will be required.

To make an appointment, a referral is required – this can be done over the phone (01624 642147) or online via this link.
