Council says membership was revoked in line with Tynwald legislation

A former Douglas councillor says he has enjoyed his time in council and will continue to support the city and promote the Island.

Frank Schuengel, who represents the south ward, had his councillor's membership automatically revoked yesterday (12 March) during a council meeting.

Douglas City Council says under legislation set by Tynwald a councillor’s membership is automatically revoked if they fail to attend three consecutive months of meetings.

Speaking to Manx Radio from Manila, Mr Schuengel apologised to the residents he represents adding he still hasn't heard from the council about his membership:

The Council told Manx Radio Mr Schuengel has officially been informed of the decision.

The local authority also thanked Mr Schuengel for his service since July 2021 and wished him well for the future.
