MHK claims politicians have been left in the dark over healthcare cuts
Politicians on the Isle of Man have been left in the dark by a government which has ‘misled’ the public according to the MHK who leaked information about health cuts.
Last week Lawrie Hooper published an embargoed media release outlining the steps Manx Care planned to take to reduce its overspend.
This included the suspension of some non-urgent elective care on the Isle of Man, which is now being reinstated, and a block on sending patients to the UK for non-urgent appointments and procedures.

Despite the u-turn, which came after an £800,000 cash injection from Treasury, Mr Hooper told Manx Radio politicians still haven’t been briefed about what is happening:
The chief minister has admitted there 'clearly' needs to be a rethink on how government policies - and their impacts - are communicated to the public.

Health and Social Care Minister Claire Christian has also apologised.
