Peel Ports Group says it's 'nearing the end of procurement process' for repairs
It's thought the Manxman's usual berth at Heysham won't be fixed until April.
Back in August last year, the Manxman collided with a wall as it was attempting to dock at the Lancashire port.
The vessel suffered minor damage, and its berth at the port was also hit during the incident.
As a result, foot passengers have been boarding and disembarking via coaches for several months.
This is because the Steam Packet Company says there is no safe route by foot between the terminal and the vessel; meaning passengers are held until there is sufficient space on the vehicle decks for the coaches.
Freight has also been taking longer to be loaded and unloaded.
Because of all this, there have been delays, especially for foot passengers getting on and off the ferry.
Peel Ports Group is the owner of the port and is responsible for carrying out the repair work.
In a statement to Manx Radio, it says it's been undertaking the necessary procurement process to allow for repair works to be carried out.
It says it's now in the advanced stage of that process and currently estimates the repairs will be complete by April.
The company's apologised for any inconvenience caused to the users of the linkspan.
In a statement issued to Manx Radio, the Steam Packet Company said: "[We have] been liaising closely with Peel Ports since August and welcome the confirmation of this timeline.
"The statement from Peel Ports gives us confidence that passengers travelling during peak travel periods after this date will not be impacted.
"Whilst we’re always focused on delivering a great customer experience, we would like to thank everyone for their continuing patience and understanding while Peel Ports work to resolve the current situation."
