Helping Manx mothers find their lost babies' resting places

Vicky Christian wants to assist others who've been through heartbreak

A humanist celebrant on the Isle of Man is hoping to find mothers who experienced the heartbreak of stillbirth during the 1960s, 70s or early 80s, and never found out where their babies were buried.

During that time when a baby was stillborn parents were often not given the chance to see their child or fully understand what happened afterward because it was felt this would help protect them from the pain of their loss.

However, it left many with unanswered questions and unresolved grief, which Vicky Christian learned more about after discovering a friend had lost a baby at this time.

With help from the team at the Crematorium, Vicky was able to find her friend's baby's grave, and she now wants to help others who may have been through the same thing:
