Manx Utilities holding public drop in sessions

People are being invited to have their say on plans for a new windfarm which it’s claimed will ‘harness’ the Island’s natural renewable energy resources.

Manx Utilities is holding drop-in sessions over the next eight days at locations across the Island.

Today’s (19 October) will take place at Morton Hall in Castletown between 12pm and 4pm.

There will then be sessions as follows:

• 20 October: Douglas City Hall – 12pm to 4pm
• 21 October: Peel Centenary Centre – 2pm to 7pm
• 22 October: Douglas City Hall – 2pm to 7pm
• 23 October: Morton Hall Castletown – 2pm to 7pm
• 25 October: Ramsey Courthouse – 2pm to 7pm
• 26 October: Peel Centenary Centre – 12pm to 4pm
• 27 October: Ramsey Courthouse – 12pm to 4pm

The project team behind the proposed development, at Earystane, will be on hand to answer questions and show the visual impact of the windfarm via a 360 VR experience.

MU claims the ‘Cair Vie Wind Project’ could contribute to the Island’s low carbon energy plans.

It adds the Isle of Man has some of the highest average wind speeds in Europe.

Earystane could host up to four turbines which could generate more than a quarter of the Island’s electricity needs.
