Justice Secretary to step down from role concerning crown dependencies
The Justice Secretary David Gauke says he's 'looking forward' to returning to the backbenches.
It's after he reiterated on Sunday that he'd resign should Boris Johnson be voted in as the new conservative leader.
In his role as secretary of state for justice, Mr Gauke deals with matters concerning crown dependencies.
However he said he could not support Mr Johnson's Brexit strategy, which requires leaving the EU before 31 October, even if that means without a deal.
Congratulations @BorisJohnson on being elected as Leader of @Conservatives and PM @10DowningStreet. An honour to serve in Cabinet @MoJGovUK, @DWP and @hmtreasury under @theresa_may. Looking forward to returning to backbenches tomorrow, serving people of South West Hertfordshire.
