Unananimous decision
Garff Commissioners have voted to become partners of UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man.
Local authority members unanimously backed the decision at a meeting last night (3 April), and will now apply for the status.
Aspiring partners are asked by the government to sign up to the 'biosphere pledge', a series of principles which include protecting natural resources, positive environmental impact, and promoting 'living landscapes'.
It was noted by the Board that much of this already takes place within the running of the commissioners.
Garff joins Douglas Corporation as the second local authority to apply for Biosphere partnership.
