Future of Queen's Pier to be discussed at meeting

Organisation aims to restore Victorian landmark

The future of one of the Island's Victorian landmarks could become clearer at a public meeting tonight.

The Queen's Pier in Ramsey will be the subject of the gathering, which is due to take place at the town's Methodist chapel at 7.30pm.

Tom Durrant of the Queen's Pier Restoration Trust has called the meeting.

Mr Durrant has a licence to survey the pier – and could be given a three-year lease to begin work that would see around £100,000 spent to bring the structure back into use.

He has praised the previous preservation work carried out on the structure, particularly by the infrastructure minister, who's due to attend the meeting:
