Free TV licences for over 75s extended for two years

Dr Allinson says the decision to extend the concession will provide certainty for people

Isle of Man residents over the age of 75 are to receive free TV licences until the end of 2026.

Treasury Minister, Dr Alex Allinson says the decision to extend the concession for two more years will provide certainty for people over 75 who are not in receipt of income support.

Separately pensioners over 75 who do get income support will continue to receive free TV licences under a BBC concession.

The BBC's Royal Charter is due to expire at the end of 2027 and Treasury will contact the BBC to ask for details of their future policies while monitoring any further developments.
