Fire service issues warning to take care when cooking
Four people have been treated in hospital for smoke inhalation following a house fire in Patrick overnight.
The fire and rescue service says the house was well alight with smoke and flames coming out of the windows.
The fire began in the kitchen and spread through the rest of the house.
Everybody who was in the building self-evacuated.
Fire crews were in attendance for more than three hours and the road was closed for a short time.
The fire and rescue service is asking people to take extra care when cooking, and asks you to ensure that:
- Cooking is not left unattended.
- No items are left on hobs.
- You do not cook when under the influence of alcohol or medication.
- You double check the cooker is off when you finish cooking.
- The oven, hob and grill is kept clean and in good working order.
