Paid parking introduced at car park near Police Headquarters
The Island's former chief constable has criticised a move by Douglas Council to introduce paid parking to an overflow car park by police headquarters.
It will cost on-duty officers a pound-a-day to park in the site at Noble's Park.
The move was described as a 'kick in the teeth' by the Isle of Man Police Federation, while Douglas Council said it had offered the constabulary the chance to purchase permits for officers.
Gary Roberts says 'the whole thing is really sad' and the council's decision is a 'poor one'.
I’d been determined to keep out of current issues, but this whole thing is really sad.

When it was first mooted I met the then council leader, who was sympathetic and the idea was rightly discounted.
The council’s decision is a poor one. Councillor Bentley sets things out well. https://t.co/C5OqWkLBQE
