Concern over increase in use of foodbanks
The issue of food poverty is complex - and government shouldn't make a knee-jerk reaction to the issue.
That's the view of the Chief Minister.
Howard Quayle was speaking in Tynwald this morning (Tues) in response to a question from Garff MHK Daphne Caine, who wanted to know what action was being taken to prevent seasonal increased demand on the food bank and to mitigate hunger during school summer holidays.
Mr Quayle said no child should go hungry and he was concerned over the increase in the use of foodbanks over the summer.
But he believed the Island needed to address the issue as a whole.
