Flyers more likely to be delayed travelling to Ronaldsway than from it

However, more outbound IOM flights are cancelled than inbound

Travellers flying to the Isle of Man are more likely to be delayed than those departing Ronaldsway Airport.

Figures issued by the Civil Aviation Authority show only Loganair's services to either London Heathrow or Manchester took longer to leave the Island than their corresponding inbound flight.

The data covers the 12 months up to the end of April this year.

The easyJet route to Liverpool has the best record with a 5th (20.7 percent) of their flights not leaving on time.

The worst is Loganair to Heathrow (58.8 percent), and Blue Islands to Guernsey (66.7 percent) , with around 2/3rds of each service failing to go within their allocated slot.

A delay is termed as unsuccessfully leaving within 15 minutes of when an aircraft is due to depart.

However, while your flight to the Island is more likely to be delayed than those leaving Ronaldsway, the situation is reversed in terms of cancellations.

More often than not, travellers are prone to being left stranded in the Isle of Man than travelling here from other airports.

During the same 12 month period to April, almost 1 in 10 Loganair flights to London City (9.7 percent) failed to take-off although the Scottish airline's service to Liverpool had the best record for cancellations with an average of 1.8 percent.

Only 3 routes had 100 percent records for departures to and from the Island - Blue Islands to Jersey and Guernsey and BA CityFlyer to Malaga and Palma Majorca.

Meanwhile, every Emerald Airways flight from Belfast City to the Isle of Man took to the air as scheduled.
