Flooding causing 'serious delays' on Island roads

Police urge motorists to drive to conditions

Police are urging motorists to drive sensibly and to the conditions.

It's as a number of the Island's roads are flooding due to the heavy rain.

Union Mills, Whitebridge, St Marks and the coast road through Laxey are just some of the areas motorists are finding surface water.

The Mountain Road has been closed from Barrule Park to Hillberry until 4:30pm.

Sergeant Andrew Reed has this advice for people:

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says crews from Douglas are dealing with multiple reports of both domestic and commercial flooding, some of which are being made worse by vehicle drivers not driving slowly through flooded areas.
Meanwhile, Isle of Man Transport says there are serious delays on all routes due to the weather conditions and road works.
