First ever three-legged walk the length of Island raises nearly £800

The journey took the pair 21.5 hours

Two fundraisers from the UK who walked the length of the Island - all with one leg tied to the other - have raised nearly £800.

Andy McMillan and Graham Wright took on the three-legged challenge on Saturday (31 August) in aid of Depaul UK.

The charity helps young people who are homeless, at risk and disadvantaged across the UK.

Overall, the journey took them 21.5 hours, taking them from the Point of Ayre all the way to the Sound.

Andy told Manx Radio it was amazing that such a challenge came about from looking at the Island's 'pretty cool and distinctive flag'.

The pair are officially the first to achieve the feat of walking the length of the Island three-legged.

Andy had this advice for those thinking of following suit:

The men also thanked everyone who has already donated, as well as the Manx hospitality seen along the way, describing the friendliness of the locals as 'really noticeable'.

They gave particular thanks to Gophers Coffee Shop in Ramsey, Victory Café, the Hawthorn and Elegance Taxis.
