Fire service warns of the dangers of wildfires

Disposable barbecues, cigarettes and glass bottles are common culprits

The Island's fire service is warning people of the dangers of wildfires.

As the weather starts to improve, Isle of Man Fire and Rescue is asking the public to act responsibly particularly when in grassy areas.

Disposable barbecues, cigarettes and glass bottles are some of the most common culprits.

Leading Firefighter on the Fire Prevention Team, Richard Little, says they can cause significant damage:

If you are concerned about a wildfire, call 999.
