Fire service highlights importance of smoke detectors after passerby hears alarm in Ramsey

Smoke alarms play 'vital role' in reducing fire deaths and injuries

The fire service is reminding Manx residents of the importance of smoke detectors after a concerned passer by called crews to a property in Ramsey when they heard a smoke alarm going off.

Firefighters from Ramsey, Kirk Michael and Douglas were called to the scene yesterday afternoon following reports of smoke issuing from the property.

A team used breathing apparatus to enter the buildings, helping the one occupant out of the premises.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says smoke alarms play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.
