Freedom of Information request shows crews attended schools 49 times in 2023
Fire crews being called out to schools cost the education department almost £20,000 last year.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service attended schools across the Island 49 times in 2023.
A Freedom of Information request submitted by Manx Radio has revealed the Department of Home Affairs charged the Department of Education, Sport and Culture a total of £19,053.50 for the callouts.
Four of the callouts were recorded as false alarms relating to vaping or smoking.
