Fire crews deal with unattended 'substantial bonfire'

They were also called out to an activated alarm at a block of flats

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is advising those who undertake a controlled burn or bonfire to ensure someone stays with the fire until it is out and also alert the Emergency Services Joint Control Room about the event.

It's after fire crews from Douglas responded to a ‘substantial bonfire’ which was left unattended last night (9 November).

Shortly after dealing with the incident crews were informed of a activated fire alarm in a block of flats.

It says incidents 'such as this' tie up valuable resources and has the potential to delay responses to other incidents.
