Dale Cregan to be detained at Ashworth Prison indefinitely
The killer of Manx-educated police officer could spend the rest of his life in a secure mental hospital.
Dale Cregan, who murdered Fiona Bone and her colleague Nicola Hughes in a gun and grenade attack in Manchester three years ago, has been transferred to Ashworth Hospital.
32 year old Cregan was moved to the high-security facility on Merseyside after a psychological assessment found he was mentally ill.
He’d already spent some time at the unit since he was jailed in 2012, but it’s now understood he’ll be detained there indefinitely.
