November sitting of the court gets underway today
Tynwald members will be asked to set up two select committees as they gather for their November session.
One will look at whether to resurrect the film industry while the other, if approved, will select three members to look at dyslexia needs.
There will also be discussion on whether the term dependency is appropriate for the Island in this era.
The Council of Ministers has already indicated it won’t be supporting a change in the term dependency - the final recommendation in a report by the Constitutional Committee on the Manx Constitution.
There will also be debate, in what is likely to be a two-day sitting, on aspects of drilling for oil and natural gas as well as on a report into the Manx National Insurance Fund.
Tynwald members will be asked to receive the Energy Strategy, the Agricultural Strategy and the Isle of Man Food Plan 2024 as well as the 2024-2025 plan submitted by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture.
Members will also get the chance to discuss the harm caused by drug and take part in a general debate on the Public Service.
They’ll also be a report about progress being made on homelessness.
Twenty-four questions have been tabled for answer – five of which are stared as priority questions – ranging from increased tuition fees in England, Manx Care cost saving proposals and staff redundancies at Reayrt Ny Baie, quayside development in Ramsey and subsidised travel for school children.
