Apollo-gies for the bad space pun...
A giant illuminated hanging moon will be on display in Peel next month.
Called 'Museum of the Moon', and created by artist Luke Jerram, it's described as a 'fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition'.
Another artwork from the artist, Gaia, was on display in St Thomas’ Church in Douglas for three weeks last year.
That illuminated model of the Earth was seen by more than 13,000 people.
Museum of the Moon measures seven metres in diameter and features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface.
At an approximate scale of 1:500,000 each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.
The accompanying music has been created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones.
The moon has toured the world including visits to London, Mexico and Australia.
The massive 23 metre wide, high-resolution, image used to create the moon artwork was created by the Astrogeology Science Centre in the USA.
The imagery was taken by a NASA satellite carrying the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera launched in 2010.
It will be on public display at Cathedral Isle of Man in Peel from 9 February to 2 March.
