Educating young people key in tackling waste issues says Beach Buddies founder 

Calling for people to have more personal accountability

Educating young people on the Isle of Man about being responsible about waste is key to stopping the problem becoming bigger.

The founder of Beach Buddies says he believes young people are often more receptive than adults.

The clean-up charity was set up in 2006; it has more than 50 bins, across the Island, for waste collection from beaches.

But earlier this month Beach Buddies warned that people were abusing the bins by those who were dumping domestic waste, cat litter and even electronic equipment.

Thirteen bags of used cat litter were found in its bin at Smeale in Andreas in September - you can find out more HERE.
