41-year-old was stopped driving home from a party
A Castletown woman has been banned from the road for three years after making an ‘error of judgement’ by driving home after drinking at a housewarming party.
Police stopped Amy Savin, of Malew Street, just before midnight on 18 May.
Officers had seen her Renault Clio being driven ‘erratically’ on Shore Road in Port St Mary.
The 41-year-old failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters where further tests showed she was more than double the legal limit.
At Douglas Courthouse she admitted drink driving.
Savin’s advocate told the court: “She has utilised a considerable amount of Kleenex tissues because she is deeply remorseful and ashamed.”
Describing it as a ‘very serious error of judgement’ Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood fined Savin £1700 and ordered her to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
Savin will remain disqualified until she’s taken and passed an extended driving test and education course.
