Douglas man to stand trial over fraud allegations

Will next appear for a pre-trial review

A Douglas man will stand trial after being accused of committing fraud by false representation.

Andrew Ian Corrie, of Lakeside Road, allegedly returned several worn items to Marks and Spencer with the original labels cut out and higher value labels glued in place.

The 53-year-old entered 'no plea' to the offences - which were allegedly committed in May last year, and in January and February - during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

Bail was granted until his next court appearance for a pre-trial review on 13 June with the condition not to enter the Drumgold Street retailer.

 

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 13 June changed his plea to guilty on two offences of fraud by false representation. He will next appear in court on 20 June.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 20 June Corrie admitted a third offence of committing fraud by false representation. He will be sentenced on 15 August.
