Douglas man fined after being 'belligerent' with police whilst drunk

Officers called after 21-year-old 'threw bins around' near pub

A Douglas man has been fined £265 after admitting being drunk and disorderly in the city centre.

Liam Burns, of Hillside Avenue, was approached by police on Regent Street in the early hours of 9 June.

Officers were called by staff at the Albert Pub after the 21-year-old refused to leave the premises.

He was said to have 'thrown bins around' in the alley beside the pub once he was ejected.

When they found him nearby, he was slurring his words and swaying before becoming 'belligerent' with officers.

At Douglas Courthouse Burns' advocate told the court the incident was a 'silly mistake'.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered him to pay prosecution costs.
