Hope is to encourage people to stand for the role

Douglas Council is organising drop-in sessions for residents wanting to stand in April's Local Authority Election.

The sessions are being held this Friday (28 February) between midday and 2pm, and on Tuesday 4 March between midday until 2pm and between 5pm and 7pm at the city hall.

The council says officers will be available to answer questions about the role, the functions and structure of the council and advise on the election process.

Douglas will have 12 vacant seats, across four wards.

It says the elections provide a platform to make a 'tangible difference'.

An information/nomination pack for potential candidates is available to download on the Douglas City Council here.
